J.T. Miller's late goal puts Canucks one game away from conference final

For the second game in a row, a contest in this Western Conference second-round series was decided by a goal with less than a minute left in regulation.

J.T. Miller scored with 32.6 seconds left on Thursday night to give the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Arena and a 3-2 lead in the series.

On Tuesday night, defenseman Evan Bouchard scored with 39 seconds left to give the Oilers the win in Game 4.

But Miller was the hero on Thursday night when he put in a rebound off the goal post for his third goal of the playoffs and put the Canucks one game away from their first trip to the Western Conference Final since 2010-11.

Arturs Silovs made 21 saves for the Canucks. Calvin Pickard stopped 32 shots for the Oilers.

Vancouver held Edmonton's Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to one assist, by the latter. McDavid has just one goal this series.

Phillip Di Giuseppe tied the game 2-2 for the Canucks 5:14 into the second period. He capitalized on a turnover by Bouchard in front of the net and backhanded a shot past Pickard for Di Giuseppe's first career playoff goal. That came after he laid a heavy hit on Bouchard's defense partner Mattias Ekholm seconds earlier.

Vancouver had a 17-4 shots advantage in the middle period. The Oilers led 2-1 after the first period.

Evander Kane gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead 4:34 into the game on a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle. He was set up by Draisaitl, who has at least a point in each of the Oilers' 10 playoff games this season.

Defenseman Carson Soucy tied it 1-1 for Vancouver with 2:33 left in the first period. He scored on a snap shot from the top of the left circle. Soucy returned after serving a one-game suspension for crosschecking McDavid in the face at the end of Game 2.

But Mattias Janmark restored the Oilers' lead just 23 seconds later. He tapped in a pass from Connor Brown on a two-on-one rush.
