'Like a different player entered into my shoes, It’s a bit concerning,' Novak Djokovic disappointed with his level of tennis as he falls to Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets

Novak Djokovic, the 24-time singles Grand Slam champion, has always given his opponents credit when they have bested him by playing unbelievable tennis, as is required. But, there have been times, especially recently, when the Serbian has been candid about his decline in form in post match interviews.

The World No. 1 has pointed out that poor form has been the reason behind some of his unexpected losses this year, like the one against Nardi in Indian Wells. The most prominent example of this, however, is when he said he played one of the worst Grand Slam match of his life after a semi final loss to Jannik Sinner at his favorite tournament, the Australian Open.

After today’s surprise loss to Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets, Djokovic said that the freak accident with the water bottle the other night may have affected his physical condition, despite not including any discomfort initially. According to him, he felt like a completely different player to a Djokovic from two days ago, lacking coordination and balance.

The way I felt on the court today was just completely like a different player entered into my shoes. Just no rhythm, no tempo, no balance whatsoever on any shot. It's a bit concerning. Novak Djokovic said in his post match press conference

Novak Djokovic delays getting scans done after water bottle incident

The World No. 1 concerned fans when he clutched his head in agony after a fan accidentally dropped a metal bottle on his head as he was signing autographs after his first match in Rome.

Confirmation was provided that he had been given medical care and was doing alright, but news of nausea, bleeding, and pain did not alleviate the concerns.

Post his tough match today, Djokovic opened up about having had no scans done to his head to determine the impact of the hit and said he will be getting them done soon to get a conclusive result.

Today under high stress, it was quite bad. Not in terms of pain, but in terms of this balance. Just no coordination. Completely different player from what it was two nights ago. I don't know. I have to do medical checkups and see what's going on. Novak Djokovic said

He said this in response to a question about whether the injury affected him during the match. Amidst his form concerns, his admirers now have a new worry to deal with after this injury scare. This does put a big question mark on the Serbian’s chances at the upcoming French Open.
